Brief History
Our American Legion Post, established in 1919, wholeheartedly invites VETERANS from every branch of the armed forces. We are committed to upholding the values and ideals of our nation, friends, and families. Our mission is to vigorously advocate for our nation, promote peace, and bring blessings to all. We urge the patriotic citizens of Albany to stand with us as boosters or sponsors - every dollar we raise goes right back into our community. We firmly endorse scholarships for our children, aid for local needy families, and various other crucial community programs and projects.

FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES:
PREAMBLE
To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America;
To maintain law and order;
To foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism;
To preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in all wars;
To inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation;
To combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses;
To make right the master of might;
To promote peace and goodwill on earth;
To safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy;
To consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
