Oratorical Contest

The purpose of The American Legion’s National High School Oratorical Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship.

Post 30 District Oratorical Contest was held on Feb 3, 2019, in Albany at

ASU West (Darton) and was won by Mattie Winburn.

Area Oratorical Contest was held Feb 17, 2019, in Columbus

at Columbus Tech and our girl Mattie won again, so it's on to the department competition next month.

 


The Department Oratorical Contest was held on March 3, 2019, in Macon at Mercer University. We're happy to report that Mattie won again! Her next stop is the National Contest in Indianapolis.
